Ian Jordan

DipFA, Cert PFS, CeMAP

Upon leaving School in the summer of 1975, Ian served in the British Army and the U.K Metropolitan Police Force and also a couple of in between short term jobs, before starting his career as a Financial Adviser with the U.K. branch of the National Mutual Of Australasia in July 1982. In over 40 years’ service as a Financial Adviser, Ian has developed a wealth of knowledge and experience. He is a fully qualified Financial Adviser holding the U.K. Institute of Financial Services (IFS) Diploma for Financial Advisers (DipFA) together with Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) and {Personal Finance Society Certificate in Financial Planning (CertPFS). Additionally, as fully qualified Authorised Financial Adviser here in New Zealand, Ian holds the New Zealand Certificate in Financial Services (Level 5 v.1 & v.2)

In 1985, he established his own independent financial services practice based in Fareham, Hampshire, U.K.  In 2019, Ian and Carol’s Son Lee, who had been a partner in the family Independent Financial Adviser (IFA) Business since 2006, bought out Ian and Carol’s financial interests in the family IFA practice, and is now solely owned and operated by Lee Jordan (Endurance Wealth Limited) and continues to be a very successful Independent Financial Adviser Practice with a very loyal and legacy client bank spanning over 40 years of client service and advice.

Ian is a member of the Financial Advice NZ and also the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII), Personal Finance Society and the Institute of Financial Services (IFS) in the United Kingdom. In addition, Ian has been a member of the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) for over 40 years and a MDRT Court of the Table member on over 35 occasions.

Driving philosophy for his clients

Given his comprehensive knowledge of U.K. and N.Z. Financial Services, U.K. and N.Z. Tax and U.K. Pension Schemes, Ian operates as an impartial holistic Financial Adviser and specialises on Retirement/Investment Planning and U.K. Pension Transfers to New Zealand.

Ian strongly believes that ‘if you look after your client’s interests, your business takes care of itself’. His philosophy is to provide cost-effective, pragmatic financial solutions, placing maximum value on client care, trust and service. He has no ties to any single product provider, ensuring that the advice and service he provides is impartial, and best suited to your particular situation.


In 2008, Ian, Carol and their youngest Daughter Olivia emigrated to New Zealand, and Ian set up a new Financial Adviser practice, now (Jordan Financial Planning NZ Limited ) working in conjunction as a Contractor with Ian’s long term friend Chris MacKay of Chris MacKay Financial Services Limited. Ian then spent his new working life divided between both the U.K. and N.Z., commuting every quarter between his U.K. and N.Z. Financial Services Practices and completing over 60 returning international flights over the 11 year period.

After a very happy 12 year Contactor working relationship with Chris MacKay Financial Services Limited, it was mutually agreed that with the Jordan Financial Planning NZ Limited expansion plans, together with the new the new financial advice regime that came into effect on the 15th March 2021, the laws governing financial advice in New Zealand will change. Consequently, the time was right for Jordan Financial Planning NZ Limited, to branch out into brand new Offices premises and to provide  financial advice to retail clients under the new financial advice regime, registered as a Financial Advice Provider (FAP) Licence holder.

N.Z. Citizens and Lower Hutt residents, Ian and Carol have been married for over 46 years and have three children; a son Lee, and two daughters Nichola and Olivia. Additionally, they have four Grandchildren. Ian is an enthusiastic sports watcher, enjoys cycling, both tarmac and mountain biking, and enjoys playing golf. At home, he enjoys DIY and entertaining family and friends.

Neither Jordan Financial Planning NZ Limited nor I have been subject to a reliability event. A reliability event is something that might influence you in deciding whether to seek advice from myself. As an example, this would be a serious event such as legal proceedings against me, or bankruptcy in the last five years.

Carol Jordan

Company Director - Accounts/Payroll


Prior to leaving School and 6th Form College in the summer of 1977, Carol, as a teenager was already working with business accounts  and dealing with payroll at an early age as a Part Time Wages Clerk at her local Supermarket. Laterally, working for the Cheltenham & Gloucester Building Society/Bank in the accounts team dealing general banking, then being fully involved as Partner in the family Financial Services Practice.

Additionally, Carol who has always been a very competent Seamstress and Soft Furnishing Expert, in the making of all things fancy Curtains, Blinds, Cushions and even undertaking Upholstery projects started and set up her own very successful Business called “The Finishing Touch” in the U.K. which she  successfully ran for over 10 years and this only finished up when we emigrated to N.Z.

Carol has been in the back office of the business since the very beginning,  firstly in the early days of the business working both full-time and part-time  at the office helping with all of the back office administration and accounts, paying the bills and dealing with the Staff payroll as well as being Mum to the Children and running the family home.

These days, Carol is the Co-Director of Jordan Financial Planning NZ Ltd and has the responsibility for the Business accounts, Payroll and gets involved in any with staff recruitment, public relations and any special projects or initiatives for the Company. As well as running the family home,  and also keeping her hand in doing the occasional Soft Furnishing project for the family home or one of the children!


Carol married to Ian and is Mum to their three adult children and Nanny to four Grandchildren. Carol enjoys all aspects of family life, general entertaining with family and friends, and doing most things to do with Sewing, Soft Furnishing, Quilt Making and also fits in some Cycling with Ian.

Nichola Mahoney

Office and Compliance Manager

Originally from the U.K., Nichola started her career as professionally trained Dancer performing in the Musical Theatre sector.   Nichola enjoyed seven years performing with the Carnival Cruise Line musical theatre entertainment team based in the USA, traveling all over the Caribbean and Mexico. 

Following her successful dance career, Nichola returned home to settle and marry her long-term partner.  Still wanting to reap the rewards of travelling, she decided to retrain as a Flight Attendant for Virgin Atlantic Airways. 

After three enjoyable years’ service with the airline, Nichola and her husband started a family, and Nichola returned to her dance roots, teaching ballet, and spending as much time as possible with her two young children.

After moving to New Zealand in 2016, Nichola and her family first settled in Auckland, where Nichola worked for a N.Z. clothing designer, gaining knowledge in the retail sector, and furthering her customer service skills. 

In 2021, the family moved and bought their first home in Upper Hutt Wellington.

Nichola joined Jordan Financial Planning shortly after settling the family into their new lives. Nichola was ready to gain new knowledge and challenge herself in different aspects of the financial world.  Nichola’s role as Adviser Support Assistant has provided many opportunities to gain exposure to new areas including Insurance and Investment servicing, Mortgages, KiwiSaver, and U.K Pension Transfers.  

Nichola is responsible for the day to day running of the office, insurance/investment administration processes, managing our client database and most importantly maintaining regular contact between our advisers and our wonderful clients. 

Outside work, Nichola spends most of her weeknights driving her children to Ballet classes, Rugby training and Swimming.  Weekends are spent enjoying walks with the beloved Dog, eating their way around a good food market and spending time with the family.

Karien Pretorius

Originally from South Africa, Karien is a seasoned financial planning assistant with a wealth of experience in the financial planning profession.

Karien was born and raised in the vibrant and culturally diverse country of South Africa. After marrying her loving spouse, she embarked on a beautiful journey together that has spanned over 43 years. Their union has been blessed with three wonderful children who have grown into remarkable individuals, and they are now the proud grandparents of nine lively grandchildren.

Karien’s professional career started when she joined the team of a renowned Financial Planner in South Africa. For 23 years, she served as an executive personal assistant, supporting her valued employer in providing top-quality financial services to clients. During this period, Karien improved her skills in client relations, financial administration, and the intricacies of financial planning.

Her tenure in South Africa was marked by dedication and a commitment to helping clients achieve their financial goals. Karien built lasting relationships with many clients, earning their trust and loyalty through unwavering support and expertise.

At the end of 2022, Karien and her husband made a significant decision to embark on a new adventure by relocating to the picturesque landscapes of New Zealand. The appeal of this beautiful country, and the opportunity for fresh experiences and to join their children and grandchildren in New Zealand prompted their move.

Karien is an integral part of the team at Jordan Financial Planning, and she brings her extensive experience and dedication to delivering exceptional service to our clients. Karien’s role includes client communication and administrative support, ensuring that our clients receive the highest level of care and attention.

Outside of the financial world, Karien’s interests include spending quality time with her family, indulging in nature walks to explore New Zealand’s breath-taking landscapes, and contributing to the local community. Karien is firm believer in the importance of work-life balance, and she strives to embody this philosophy in both her professional and personal life.

In conclusion, Karien’s journey as a financial planner assistant has been marked by commitment, dedication, and a genuine passion for helping clients secure their financial futures. With a loving family by her side and a new chapter in New Zealand, Karien is very much looking forward to continuing her journey of growth and service in the financial planning profession.

Olivia Young

Olivia Young

Adviser Support & Marketing Assistant


Originally from the U.K, Olivia emigrated to New Zealand in 2010 with Ian and Carol. After completing her senior school years at Chilton Saint James in Lower Hutt, Olivia moved on to Massey University in 2017 to study Fashion Design. In early 2021, she graduated with a Bachelor of Design and First Class Honours. Whilst completing her
degree, in September of 2020, Olivia launched her own conscious clothing label ‘LILA by Liv’.

LILA by Liv produced made-to-order Womenswear pieces, with a focus on slow production and sustainability. Throughout 2020-2023, Olivia had great success online and stocked in selected boutiques across NZ with a small team behind her. Alongside this, Olivia also spent time working for a leading NZ Menswear brand. Then, in late 2023, Olivia decided to expand her skills by creating ‘LILA Studios’, providing Content Creation and Social Media Management services.

Olivia now creates content for special events, such as Weddings and helps other businesses to grow on social media. She works with a range of businesses in different industries and has now joined Jordan Financial Planning to assist with Marketing and Administration.

Olivia is responsible for assisting with our marketing and social media management. She also assists Nichola and Karien with the day-to-day running of the office and the insurance/investment administration processes.

Outside of JFP, Olivia spends most of her weeks running ‘LILA Studios’ and on weekends, she spends quality time with her husband Lochie, plays a few games of squash and enjoys going out with friends.
